Jumping

I am trying to figure out movies and our computers. Meaning, we have a lot of videos to share and we are unable to. So, I am trying something new! My school has those little FlipVideos available for classroom teachers to use. I used the 3rd grade camera on Friday for a presentation and am trying to upload those videos to our class page. I thought that if we can get these to work, maybe we just need to get one of these. If not, I have another trick up my sleeve!

I hope this works!!!

New Members

When Brian and I got together, we started looking for a church to attend together. We liked the churches we used to attend with our families, but we wanted one for us. We looked and looked and found a few that were ok. Then we found St. Andrew Lutheran when we were looking for a church for our wedding. We needed a church big enough for our families and still feel how we wanted/needed it to feel.

After the wedding, we went back a few times and we knew we really liked it there. The pastors were great, and the other parishioners were nice. The only thing we didn't like was having to drive 20 minutes to church. Especially since we were thinking about having a baby.

The search continued.

We found a couple more churches around our neighborhood that were nice, but we didn't like them as much as we liked St. Andrew. We decided, after months of deliberation, that we would like to continue to attend St. Andrew. Adelle was even baptized there! So now it is time for us to join.

Tomorrow we will become members and we couldn't be happier!

Rice Cereal!

Today we gave Adelle her first bites of rice cereal. I can't believe she's growing so fast! When we went to the doctor for her 4 month visit, he told us we could give her some (cereal) because she's eating so much.

Well, we mixed it up today and tried it out. She seemed to really like it! We first tried giving it to her while she was sitting in her little red seat. She kept crouching down so we ended up moving her to her booster/high chair.

She seemed to do better here, so we kept offering it to her. She ate it and seemed 'ready' for it too! I mean, she opened her mouth when I brought the spoon up and didn't spit a whole lot out either!

We got a video of her eating, but Brian doesn't have the right program on his machine, so we have to edit it on my Mac and then post it (it's too big to upload). It will be up soon - hopefully.

4 Months

Our Sweet Girl is now 4 months old! We really can't believe it. It seems like we brought her home yesterday, and at the same time it seems so long ago that we were up at night with her - none of us getting a lot of sleep.

We went to the doctor on May 6th and got some good stats to share with you! She weighs in at 13 pounds 7 ounces and is 25.5 inches tall! She is doing very well and is eating a ton. He said she looked great and when we asked if it was normal for a (just turned) 4 month old to be eating 30+ ounces a day he said yes. He also said we could start her on rice cereal if we wanted, to try to fill her up more.

Oh my goodness she is growing so fast!

She also got her 4 month (duh) shots. This, she didn't like at all! She obviously cried, so did I, but we were able to comfort her before we left the clinic.

Since then, Adelle has been really talkative and has been reaching for, and playing with toys within her reach. We got a cute toy to go on her car seat that she likes to play with. When we drive places she reaches out and hits the toys, then talks to them. It's so adorable! She has also been playing with the toy on her little seat. She will suck on her fingers and then hit the toy, suck on her fingers then hit the toy.

Did I mention she likes to suck on her fingers? She loves to suck on the first two fingers on her right hand. When she is really hungry she will suck on/eat both of her hands and sometimes gag herself on them. Hopefully, she will grow out of this sooner rather than later. We've tried giving her a pacifier and she just spits it out.

Addie has been sleeping really well! We put her down between 7-8pm and she'll sleep through until 6 the next morning!!! Mom and Dad really appreciate that! We're also trying a couple new routines. Dad puts her to bed at night and Mom wakes up with her in the morning. This is working for the most part but I think Addie really misses her Mom at night time. Sometimes she'll cry really hard when Dad puts her down and then Mom will come in and she'll calm right down and fall asleep.

Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day!

It was wonderful and I am so thankful and blessed! Adelle and I started out the day alone because Daddy was hunting for Tom Turkey. We got up, ate, then went back to sleep for another hour and a half! Then, we got up again and waited for Daddy to get home. After he surprised me with flowers, we went to lunch. We came home and relaxed - just the three of us.

We went to Nonna and Papi's house for dinner. We watched Nonna open presents, visited with everyone (Auntie Angie, Uncle Dale, Auntie Maria, Nonna, Papi and the puppies), then came home and put Addie to bed.

It was wonderful!

Just think, last year on Mother's Day, I was pregnant with Adelle. We had found out we were pregnant about a month before and we hadn't even heard her little heart beating yet. Geepers, we didn't even know we were having a girl! This year though, I am able to hold my Sweet Girl and kiss her and show her all the love I have for her. Watching her grow and change has been so very rewarding!

I love being a Mommy!

p.s
We didn't get a picture of Me and Adelle - HOW did THAT happen?!

First Trip to the Zoo!!

Today we took Adelle to the MN Zoo to see the Farm Babies! It was really great, aside from the chilly weather. It was chilly and a little drizzly, but that didn't last very long, thank goodness! We wrapped her in a blanket and put the hood of her sweatshirt on and started walking.

The snow monkeys were first and she liked them. She watched them swing and move around but then the children next to her stole her attention. We moved on.

Next, we saw baby chicks and bunnies! She really loved them and watched them intently for a while. She got distracted a couple of times then went right back to watching them.

After that, we went outside for the walk to the Land O Lakes Grain Elevator. This was a cold and long walk. I was holding her to make sure she stayed warm and we went into any building/enclosure we could find. She watched the snow leopard pace and the wild boars charge each other. The bears were digging in the ground so Addie didn't watch them too long.

When we got to the Grain Elevator we warmed up, changed her, and waited for the tractor to pull us to the exhibit. As soon as we sat down on the wagon (which was pulled by the tractor) Adelle started crying. Papi took her and calmed her down until we got off the wagon a short ride later.

We all clambered off of the wagon and walked right into the pit of he... well, it wasn't that bad but the goats are freaking creepy!!! Auntie Maria got a picture of me and Addie next to a little baby goat. They were slightly bigger than Addie and already had the spots where the horns grow - ISH!

From there we went into the cow barn. It was quite smelly but reminded me of my college days when I went to the farm. Or a really warm day with a breeze. Anyway, I don't think Adelle liked the smell because she made a funny face then buried her face in my shoulder. I told her that they were alike in a way because they both can go to the bathroom whenever and wherever they want. Then I said, the good thing is that YOU will grow out of that!

We headed to the bathroom after that, where Addie proceeded to zonk out! She didn't even get to see the ADORABLE baby piglets! They were born a week ago and were so dang cute! She also missed the chickens, or Belinas as Auntie Maria called them. We also got to see some calfs that were born less than a month ago and a two and a half ton bull that is a clone. Speaking of bulls, does anyone know why they put the ring in their noses?

After that we went back to the trail on the way out. We saw moose, caribou, and couple of sleepy tigers. Nonna was knocking on the glass and got one of them to stretch and roll over briefly! We even walked past a couple of geese sitting on nests and a few different geese running after each other! It was hilarious!

All in all, I am glad we went today. I should have packed her snow suit, or some mittens, or another blanket - but everything was fine. The lines weren't long and the animals were out! I can't wait until she's older and can really look at the animals and ask questions about them - soon enough though!

Have a great week everyone!

16 Weeks = 3 Months 4 Weeks

This week has been kind of a blur. We had the baptism on Sunday, Adelle started a new daycare on Monday, my students took the MCA (state) tests on Tuesday and Wednesday, I don't remember what went on Thursday, and Friday Brian wasn't home for dinner. Luckily today we will have a chance to hang out as a family during the day. Then tonight, Brian and I are going to a silent auction for my school. I am excited for it and hope it turns out well.

Adelle seems to really like her new DayCare, Grow With Me Family Childcare. Ms Christina is very nice and there is another little one, just a few months older than Addie, there for Adelle to play with. She has been adjusting to the change very well!

As for Adelle:
She is sitting up, when we prop her, for longer periods of time. We have a little seat for her that she likes to sit in. We put it on the table while we eat or are cooking, and she watches us. So observant! She loves to sing or talk when I sing, and she'll even hold the sound she's making! She is still drooling, but no teeth have been spotted yet. I know it's early. She kick a lot - Auntie Maria said she's practicing karate! She loves her jumper and she is finally starting to get interested in toys. I am not sure if the toy thing is good or bad! :) Oh, Adelle is also sleeping through the night! We can put her down around 7:30p and she hasn't woken up until about 6a! Hallelujah!!

15 Weeks = Baptism (3 months 2 weeks)

Our little girl was baptized today!

Brian and I have asked our good friends Becky, Pat and Ben to be Adelle's God Parents. They agreed and come out yesterday for the service along with Nonna and Papi, Auntie Maria, Auntie Angie and Uncle Dale, Nana and Papa, and Great Grandma Dolores. Pastor Rod, the same Pastor who married us, did the service and it was perfect! He is such a wonderful person and really great at what he does!! After the service, everyone crammed into our house for lunch and our traditional Lamb Cake.

Thank you all for being with us today. It means a lot to us and we are so happy you are a part of our lives!

Adelle is growing!
She loves to sit in her little chair. She is still as curious as ever and we can't get over how observant she is! We brought out the jumper and she loves to sit in that and move around. It plays music when it's moved so when it plays, she stops and listens to it! She is kicking her legs more and more when she is laying down and has even rolled onto her right side from her back. She likes to suck on her hands and is continuing to drool in crazy amounts! She is getting so big! In fact, I weighed her the other day and she is 12.2 pounds!!
