Today is the last official day of my summer vacation.
This is very sad for me and I am taking it kind of hard! I love being home with Adelle and I love being able to watch her grow and discover. She has changed so much in her 8 months, and I am very fortunate to have had these few months, but it still makes me sad.
Don't get me wrong, I am passionate about teaching and I love what I do. I am excited to get back to it, and meet my new students too!
Adelle will also be starting a new daycare on Monday. We are happy about this because she will be 3 or 4 blocks away from me, but there is always a nervousness about starting something new. Maybe that is just with me?! We need to make sure we have things ready for her to go: immunization records, diapers, wipes, formula, extra clothes. I hope I don't forget anything!!
Today though is for us. We will make the most of it and have a blast! We are visiting Daddy for lunch, a tradition we started when we first got together, and Auntie Angie and Cousin Lila will be visiting this afternoon. It will be a happy day indeed!

Video: Crawling
Today I was sorting through the videos and deleting the super shaky ones, the ones that aren't in focus, and the the ones that are a second long of ME laughing. Here is one of Adelle crawling to her favorite things to put in her mouth: Daddy's shoehorn and a DVD. It doesn't matter WHAT DVD, and as far as we can see she isn't favoring a genre :)

Standing?!
Adelle has tried to pull herself up to standing for the past week but today she finally did it!! We are moving the crib mattress down and continuing to baby proof the house. We are going slowly because Adelle is content to crawl around the area rug in the living room. Don't be fooled, we are putting wall plugs in place and hiding cords in other rooms as well!

Congratulations Sweet Girl! Mommy and Daddy are very proud of you and your accomplishments!!

Going Public Again
Today we decided to try going public with the blog again. We're not sure about this, but we have family/friends who don't want to get an account or sign in before reading. We'll see how this goes!!

Officially On the Move!
Our little girl has officially started crawling! I can't believe it - she's getting so big!
She is also eating Gerber 2nd foods and those little puffs from Target!! Oh my goodness!! I am just really glad that she still likes to cuddle in the morning and at night!

Fabulous Idea!
So... I wish I were more creative. No. I wish I were actually able to sew. I have done a few projects with Sharon - thank you very much, I LOVE what we have made and am excited for the ones coming up - but I wish I already knew how to actually sew. Ya know? I think I should have taken more classes in high school and college (did they even offer any?) because it is something I find completely rewarding and fun!! Plus, I think that once you know what you're doing, it can be a lot cheaper than going out and buying new clothes. Plus, the knowledge can help when things don't fit right.
For instance. I am short. I am actually about 5'4.5" tall (though I usually round up to 5'5"). If I buy jeans that are 'regular' fit, they are too long though if I buy jeans that are 'short' fit they are too short. It's kind of like my waist: if I buy one size, they are too big though if I buy the size smaller, they are too tight for me. It bugs me!!
I think it would be great to be able to actually fix the things that need to be fixed - like my jeans - without thinking about it. I COULD try it myself, but I am sure I would screw things up.
Anyway, enough of my tirade, I want to share an amazing blog I found on the Yahoo! homepage today. It's called, New Dress A Day. It is about a woman, Marisa, who was laid off and decided to take a $1 vintage/consignment dress each day for a year and make it new/stylish ala Julie and Julia! She is awesome!! The creations she makes are inspiring, and something I have always wanted to be able to do!
So, I am adding her blog to my list, because she inspires me.

Somehow...
I lost all of the links in my blogroll!! I am really not sure how that happened, especially since EVERYTHING else is here! Anyway, if you don't see your blog on the right, please send me the link.

I Have a Button!
I have been working on making a button using the PSE we downloaded a few days ago. It has been nagging at me so I worked on it until it finally worked!! YAY! I still want to work on other things too - different backgrounds, colors, effects, etc. but this is a great start!
Anyway, here it is - I hope it works.

Oh, and another thing...
Adelle can now sit up on her own from laying down!! She honestly couldn't do this yesterday morning, then last night when we went to pick her up she was sitting up in her crib talking away. We thought she pulled herself up using the bars in her crib, but when we took her out and were playing with her on the floor, she pushed herself up! She was on her side and just sat up - it was awesome!!
While she was on the floor she was also getting ready to crawl. She would rock back and forth while on her hands and knees. She even pushed herself with her feet (though her legs were extended) and pulled herself with her arms (again, her legs were extended). Although, one time she was rocking so much she pushed, while still on her knees, and BOTH knees left the floor but landed in the same spot. She would even move one arm, then go to move the leg and just kept it in the air like she didn't know what to do with it. It's all so nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time - oh the suspense!!

New Hard Drive
I am so sorry I haven't posted any new pictures, we are having some technical difficulties. I wanted to install a new program (to use for our pictures) and there wasn't enough memory on our hard drive. We were both super surprised by that, until Brian looked into it and realized our pictures were taking up well over half of the memory!! THAT seemed reasonable, but crappy, because now I couldn't download any new pictures!
So Brian went to BB and picked up a new hard drive to add to the computer, not replace the one we have. He ended up getting one that is 1 terabyte of space. I don't know what that is actually, other than really huge!! So now we are using that to hold all of our "multimedia" files: pictures, movies, music.
Well, I went to install that program and when it finished it asked me to restart the computer. Being the good girl I am, I follow directions! I restarted the computer to find it sitting at a black screen with a little white cursor. What?! I called Brian. He told me what to do to try to fix it. It didn't work. He told me try something different. It didn't work. He told me to try something different. THAT didn't work. Did I mention this was all happening at 8am? Needless to say, Brian needed to look at it and figure things out.
NOW, things are working but the program I installed is running slowly. I am still trying to figure it out too. I will post new pictures as soon as I can!!
Thank you for being patient!

Toasted Circles aka Cheerios
We decided to give Adelle some Cheerios the other day because she was staring at our food and licking her lips. We were hesitant because she doesn't have any teeth yet! However, we set them on her little tray to see what she would do and... she just hit them and moved them around! We knew we needed to show her what to do with them, but we thought we would see if she just knew. Anyway, we showed her that she needed to pick them up and put them in her mouth, then chew them (we looked like dorks, but who cares). We picked one up for her and she opened her mouth and leaned in toward us. The 'O' fell onto her tongue and there it sat for about 30 seconds with her mouth wide open and concerned look on her face. She wasn't too sure about it! She then, I think, got tired of having her mouth open and closed it. She mashed it around a little while then leaned toward the O's! We gave her a few more and she mashed them - funny faces and all!!
Yesterday, I gave her a few while I was making her bottle and I came back to put on in her mouth, and she had already eaten 2!! Alright, she had really only eaten 1 because the other was on the floor. But she picked one up and ate it all by herself!
We are such proud parents!!

Trying Some New Things...
I have wanted to make the blog a little more unique/fun for a long time. Now that I have a few blogger friends (who are also new Mommies) I've learned how to make things spiffy!
I want to say THANK YOU to A.Lee, little baby B makes three, for helping me via email, as well as B, Unexpectedly Expecting Baby!
I am trying out new fonts for my blog post titles (and dates), signature, and a few other things.
Thank you for being patient - and for continuing to read! I'll update everyone on our Sweetie tomorrow when I have the newest pictures uploaded... they are from swimming and a bath!
Have a great night!

7 Months
Adelle is now 7 months old - how did that happen?! It seems like just last week we were taking her home from the hospital in frigid weather :) She is doing a lot these days, including:
* playing with her toys
* playing with things she THINKS are her toys
* eating peas, green beans, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, prunes, apples, applesauce, pears, peaches, rice cereal, oatmeal, and the assorted muffin from Papi :)
* chewing on everything - except teethers or teething rings
* fitting into 9 month clothing (which seems to be right on target since the little labels say they should fit into that size UNTIL they are 9 months)
* wearing size 2 diapers during the day
* wearing size 3 diapers at night (Mama's little peeing machine)
* sleeping through the night from about 7:30p until about 6:30a
* taking three naps - when she doesn't karate chop them in the throat (aka NOT take them)
* taking a bath in the actual bath tub
* being very curious about the things around her
* working on her crawling skills, though is not yet on the go
and
* TALKING - she can say Mama (Mamamamama), Dada (Dadadadada), Blah (Blahblahblahblah), and we think Papa and Baba!!
At first when she said Mama, it was strung together with a lot of other 'Mama's so we didn't really know if she KNEW what she was saying. Is that the beginning of talking, when she KNOWS and can associate words with objects/people, or is it when she actually says the syllables? Anyway, we didn't think anything of it until Saturday night when we gave her a bath and put her down to bed. When she would cry she would say MamaMama and DadaDada!! When both, or one of us, would come in she would smile!!
What an amazing feeling that is!! I am so blessed to be able to watch her grow and learn!!
