When we were at Dr. Malo's office back in May for our final appointment with him, he showed us something incredible. He showed us Baby V's heart beating. It was just that... incredible! I didn't think anything could top the way I felt in that office!
I didn't think anything could top that feeling until we were able to HEAR Baby V's heart beating!!! Oh my goodness that sound is amazing!! I cried instantly when I heard it because I knew things were going well. Since I haven't been sick, I'm not "showing" and I can't feel anything yet it is really hard to "know" that everything is going well. I know that I am doing everything I can to help Baby V grow and to protect him, but I want to hear the heart and feel the movements!
Coincidentally it was our first visit with our doctor. He is very nice and very soft spoken. He completed my exam and then let us hear the heart beating for a while. We heard mine... whoosh... whoosh... whoosh... and then we heard Baby V's... whoosh.whoosh. whoosh.whoosh. whoosh.whoosh. It was twice as fast as mine and it was the most amazing sound in the world.
We're parents and I love my little Baby V!
Baby V is growing:
He is about the size of a lime and weighs 8 - 14g. His fingers are moving, toes are curling, and if I poke my abdomen he moves! Well, I still can't feel it though. Only 196 days left!

11 Weeks = Misc. Rambling
I can't believe I am already 11 weeks and 3 days! I have my first doctors' appointment on Friday and I am VERY excited! I just want to make sure that everything with our little one is going well. Especially since I don't have morning sickness (sometimes I get nauseous though), the soreness has gone away, I don't crave things, and I can't feel anything!
I have already looked online at crib bedding and Brian and I have found some we like. Now we just need to wait to find out if we're having a boy or girl. According to Bruce, we're going to have a boy. I've thought that too based on the old wives tale that if you crave salty things you'll have a boy. I didn't crave salty things they just tasted better. However, now I want/need ice cream every night. Kempswiches and Snickers ice cream bars taste delicious! Last night I even had one of each - don't worry though, I don't usually do that.
My summer project is to get the second bedroom ready for the baby. I mean, we are using the closet as storage and the room itself is like a catch-all. So we need to go through it and clean everything out. (Brian's project this summer is to make more storage in the garage.) I already have a good start on it too - GoodWill here I come!

She is about the size of a fig and she weighs about 8g. Her tooth buds are forming and she can already swallow! Only 203 days to go!

2 Years and Counting!
Today is our anniversary!
I can't believe we've been married for 2 years already! We are celebrating by going to dinner at Porterhouse, a delicious restaurant in Lakeville we went to last year on our anniversary.

Last Day of School = Really?!
It is so hard to believe that school is over for the 2008-2009 school year! Where did the time go?! The day started off with a celebration for just the student body and it was wonderful - I love ending the year that way! Six of our students played 'Pop Goes the Weasel' on Boomwhackers while the rest of the students paraded the puppets they made during the In The Heart of the Beast residency down the aisle. It was awesome and they did a fantastic job!
Summer school starts on the 22nd and I am actually looking forward to it! I got a Promethean Interactive White Board and am excited to be able to play with it a little more before the fall. That way I can get used to it and make/test lessons for actual students. I feel like that last sentence needs an evil laugh... mmuuahahahahaha!!!
Anyway, it's the beginning of summer (for me) today and I am going back to school to make sure I have everything done and ready for our summer school meeting on the 19th. All in all, I think it's a fine way to start the summer...

10 Weeks = Our First Nurse's Visit
Well, we were supposed to have our nurses' visit back in May but the nurse went home sick. So I set up another appointment for our anniversary (June 16th) but they called yesterday and said they had a cancellation today at 5pm - would we want to come in? I said yes because I figured that would give the lab a week to get everything done before we see the doctor on the 19th.
We got there right on time and checked in with the clerical worker. When the nurse called my name I got really excited - I was finally going to see someone! She took my weight and led me into an exam room. She asked me about my medical history, then asked Brian about his. She answered any questions she could and wrote down the rest for the doctor to answer. She gave us a bag filled with great information about pregnancy and birth as well as different tests we can have throughout our pregnancy. Though I was sad we didn't get to see or hear our baby I was happy that we got things started.
Right now I am 10 weeks and 5 days. I haven't gotten sick but I have been nauseous on and off this past week. It feels like when I first found out I was pregnant - I get really nauseous when I DON'T eat. Other than that things are going well!
