7 Months

Adelle is now 7 months old - how did that happen?! It seems like just last week we were taking her home from the hospital in frigid weather :) She is doing a lot these days, including:

* playing with her toys

* playing with things she THINKS are her toys

* eating peas, green beans, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, prunes, apples, applesauce, pears, peaches, rice cereal, oatmeal, and the assorted muffin from Papi :)

* chewing on everything - except teethers or teething rings

* fitting into 9 month clothing (which seems to be right on target since the little labels say they should fit into that size UNTIL they are 9 months)

* wearing size 2 diapers during the day

* wearing size 3 diapers at night (Mama's little peeing machine)

* sleeping through the night from about 7:30p until about 6:30a

* taking three naps - when she doesn't karate chop them in the throat (aka NOT take them)

* taking a bath in the actual bath tub

* being very curious about the things around her

* working on her crawling skills, though is not yet on the go

and

* TALKING - she can say Mama (Mamamamama), Dada (Dadadadada), Blah (Blahblahblahblah), and we think Papa and Baba!!

At first when she said Mama, it was strung together with a lot of other 'Mama's so we didn't really know if she KNEW what she was saying. Is that the beginning of talking, when she KNOWS and can associate words with objects/people, or is it when she actually says the syllables? Anyway, we didn't think anything of it until Saturday night when we gave her a bath and put her down to bed. When she would cry she would say MamaMama and DadaDada!! When both, or one of us, would come in she would smile!!

What an amazing feeling that is!! I am so blessed to be able to watch her grow and learn!!

Peas

Tonight we gave Addie peas for the first time. Auntie Angie was here so she fed them to her!! It was hilarious! Addie would lean into them and then once they were in her mouth, she made some sour puss faces. She ate everything in the little bowl we had for her, so that is good, but she continued to make the faces. I even got a little video of it!!

She really likes eating "solids"! So far she's tried: rice cereal, prunes, apples, applesauce, peaches, sweet potatoes and peas. The only thing she doesn't like is the cereal. We're going to mix it with the prunes to see if that helps, but I'm not concerned about it. This is a picture of Addie eating the sweet potatoes - isn't it fitting that she had on her "i love auntie" bib in honor of Maria? Though I think Maria might like brown sugar a little more than sweet potatoes! :)

Another thing she really likes to do is pick things up and put them in her mouth! She JUST started doing this when we were at dinner with Bruce and Sharon. I am not even kidding, she wasn't interested in toys or picking them up during the day, then we met them at 5pm and something had clicked! She was picking up her toy, putting it in her mouth and biting down!! While I was at Target today, I help up about 10 toys in front of her (to see if she liked any of them) and she didn't do anything. Right when I was about to call it a day, I picked one last toy up and she got all excited, reached for it, then immediately put it in her mouth! She didn't put it down until we got home!!

I went to Target today to get her a little baby pool. It has been pretty warm here and we've wanted one for a while, but I finally got it today. It's not big enough for us to sit in, but we can sit close enough to the sides that it's close enough. It's a little blow-up pool but we had her in it for almost an hour. She was sitting, standing, even laying in it!! She doesn't like to get her ears wet though. I don't have pictures of the event because, since she can't sit yet, I didn't want to risk her slipping while I was taking a picture :(

When Addie wakes up in the morning, I let her talk for a while. I can either sleep - really lightly - through it, or I wake up and take a shower before I go in and get her. It's really sweet to hear! She just talks and talks and sometimes hits her aquarium and then talks to it while the little fish 'swim' by. Then, when I am ready to get her, or I notice she is starting to whine because she's hungry, I peek inside the doorway. I get her attention and she smiles and smiles, sometimes giggles until I go pick her up. I love our mornings together!

4 Months

Our Sweet Girl is now 4 months old! We really can't believe it. It seems like we brought her home yesterday, and at the same time it seems so long ago that we were up at night with her - none of us getting a lot of sleep.

We went to the doctor on May 6th and got some good stats to share with you! She weighs in at 13 pounds 7 ounces and is 25.5 inches tall! She is doing very well and is eating a ton. He said she looked great and when we asked if it was normal for a (just turned) 4 month old to be eating 30+ ounces a day he said yes. He also said we could start her on rice cereal if we wanted, to try to fill her up more.

Oh my goodness she is growing so fast!

She also got her 4 month (duh) shots. This, she didn't like at all! She obviously cried, so did I, but we were able to comfort her before we left the clinic.

Since then, Adelle has been really talkative and has been reaching for, and playing with toys within her reach. We got a cute toy to go on her car seat that she likes to play with. When we drive places she reaches out and hits the toys, then talks to them. It's so adorable! She has also been playing with the toy on her little seat. She will suck on her fingers and then hit the toy, suck on her fingers then hit the toy.

Did I mention she likes to suck on her fingers? She loves to suck on the first two fingers on her right hand. When she is really hungry she will suck on/eat both of her hands and sometimes gag herself on them. Hopefully, she will grow out of this sooner rather than later. We've tried giving her a pacifier and she just spits it out.

Addie has been sleeping really well! We put her down between 7-8pm and she'll sleep through until 6 the next morning!!! Mom and Dad really appreciate that! We're also trying a couple new routines. Dad puts her to bed at night and Mom wakes up with her in the morning. This is working for the most part but I think Addie really misses her Mom at night time. Sometimes she'll cry really hard when Dad puts her down and then Mom will come in and she'll calm right down and fall asleep.
