I don't know what to say.
I'm shocked.
How does this happen?
My friend's husband, my high school classmate, died this morning. Died. They haven't been married very long either.
How does this happen?
I just keep thinking about how she must be feeling, or what she is emotionally going through and what she will have to go through and it tears me apart. It makes me think about when Brian was in the hospital after we got engaged (that July). It was the scariest thing ever! I just don't know what I would do if something were to happen to Brian... or Adelle for that matter!!
What a sad day.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Stefany!!

Birthdays Galore!
January is an exhausting month.
We end the year with Christmas and start the year with not one, not two, but 5 birthdays! 5 in our immediate family anyway! Can you even believe it?! It's emotionally, physically, and monetarily exhausting. I love this month and that we are able to celebrate so many milestones with our family - we are truly blessed!
Here is a list of SOME of the people who have a birthday in January: Adelle, Me, Aunt Linda, Liz and David, Kara, Halle, Bruce, Michelle, Dottie, Angie, Zoe, and Zack (the dog). There are more too! Well, we know what people were doing in April :)
Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone with a January birthday a very happy and joyous day!

Adelle Turns 1!
We can't believe our Sweet Girl is 1 already! She is getting SO big!! We went to the doctor today and she is 2ft 6 1/4in tall, she DEFINITELY doesn't get that from me, and is 18lbs 15oz. She is eating lots of veggies, some fruits and meats, but she LOVES spaghetti, something she DEFINITELY gets from me! :)
Here are some pictures from her first birthday. We celebrated on Sunday, her actual birthday, with our family! Bruce and Sharon, John and Dottie, Angie, Dale and Lila, Maria, Becky, Pat and Zoe, and Ben and Melissa. We were just missing Great Grandma Dolores, and Danielle, Mike, Isabelle and Gabe but we celebrated with them a few days earlier. It was so much fun!!

The Last Day of School
Today was the last day of school - with students. WHAT A GREAT FEELING!!! Don't get me wrong, I really liked my class this year (like I do most years) but I am happy to be able to spend some time with my Sweet Girl!
We had a wonderful celebration during the morning with our entire school. Our third graders sang, "Under the Boardwalk" and, "The Sharing Song" with the second graders. They did a great job! The cutest were the kindergarten and first grade singers. They did a couple of super cute songs and the kids themselves were entertainment. There was one little girl in the front row who was dancing so much she flashed her undies a couple of times and two other little ones who got SO into the songs they were making funny faces. It was awesome! After that we cleaned a bit then ultimately ended the day by watching a movie.
I will miss my students from this year. They were funny, sweet and curious. They will all make fantastic 4th graders!
To end MY day, the three of us went to my co-workers house for a celebration. D is such a wonderful person who has a huge heart. I love having her as my teaching partner and think we work well together. Her husband is Italian and makes delicious sauce, meatballs and sausage. The sausage has a kick to it - I couldn't eat the one I took! Thank you for throwing us the party C's food was awesome, as usual!
I'll go back on Monday to wrap things up and get ready for summer school. Until then, I will relax with my family and soak in the beginning of summer!

Cafe Latte
A co-worker has been "bumped," and today her lunch bunch bought her a couple of cakes. We have pretty great lunch bunches here, and that first bunch is AWESOME! The people in it are super fun, and they really know how to make someone feel special!
The cakes they got were from Cafe Latte, here in St. Paul. For those of you who don't know the area - the cakes are fantastic!! I had a piece of their Turtle cake and am still eating it two hours later, it is so rich. They also had a Raspberry Torte that was amazing and lite. No, I didn't have a piece from both cakes, but a friend of mine had the torte and really enjoyed it. The pictures really don't do them justice!

As for the person who was "bumped," I will miss her a great deal. She is fun, sweet, smart and I have really liked working with her. It's a great thing she still lives close to school and that her kids are still here!!
Good luck S!

Visiting Friends
Friday we were able to visit with friends who moved to Florida. They came up for a wedding and had a little get together at a local place they don't have where they live - Buffalo Wild Wings. We were very excited to see them and to introduce them to Adelle.
We miss you Laura and Matt! It was fantastic seeing you!!
