Adelle has been babbling so much lately! She definitely takes after her Mama with her babbling :) Well, she likes to mix real words with nonsense words. She'll say real words and phrases like, I did it, Stop it, Why, Hi, Hello, Mom, Mama, Daddy, Nana, Papa, Nonna, Papi (kind of), Yes, No, and a bevy of other words. It's super exciting to hear the new words she learns!
When Adelle was at Nonna and Papi's house the other weekend, Nonna taught her to say M for her Auntie Maria. So now, when Maria calls my phone {she has a special ring} Adelle runs to it and says, M! Adorable!
Angie is more difficult to say though. We've been practicing a lot and I go over the sounds with her too. Then, the other day, when I asked her to say Angie, she said Annie. It actually sounded more like An-yee, but it pulls on my heartstrings to think that Annie could keep going in our family. I miss you, Annie!
We just need to work on Danielle!!

5 Question Friday

1. If you had the opportunity to bungee jump, would you?
I used to have no trouble saying yes. The thrill would be amazing!! However, now that I have a child I can't help but think of all of the things that could go wrong. Everything from crashing on the way to go bungee jumping, to having the bungee fail. It's actually kind of awful!!
2. Would you rather go to the movie theater or to the drive-in?
It depends on what the movie is/movies are. There is a drive-in close to where I live that plays 3 movies. If all three were movies I'd want to see, or even just 2 of them, I'd want to go. I haven't been to a movie in SO long though, I'll take either!!
3. Do you have your groceries delivered?
No because I am afraid of change apparently! I am not sure how it works, and what if we're not home? Do YOU have your groceries delivered?
4. Eyebrows: Do you wax, thread, pluck, or stay au naturel?
WAX and PLUCK - my brows are unruly! I usually get them waxed every couple of months then try to maintain with plucking. I then get frustrated and have to wax again.
5. Would the people you went to high school with be surprised by your life today?
I don't think so. I've wanted to be a teacher and work with kids since I was little. I have also wanted to be a mom as well. I think if they were surprised by anything I think it would be that I have only one child. We aren't stopping at one though, we are enjoying the time we have with Adelle while watching her grow!!
Hotter Than Billy...
Oh my goodness... it's hot. Really hot. Walk outside and instantly sweat hot. Glasses/Sunshades sliding off your face hot. Ishy hot. I really don't like hot weather, though I can be in it as long as there is shade (or a fan, or a pool) but TEACHING in this kind of weather wears me out!!
I mean, the buildings aren't air conditioned and when you put 20 kids and 3 adults into small room and expect them to focus and learn something... that is wishful thinking! My students are beyond wilted, and I have to say, I am no better. I have been reading a lot and having them be still (which is NOT my preference) just so they don't move around and get miserable. They've done a nice job thus far, but we'll see how the next 2.5 weeks turn out!
UGH - I don't like it when it's this hot out! Do you?

5 Question Friday

1. What is your current favorite tv show?
We don't really watch a lot of tv while it's happening. I don't like commercials and it's tough to find the time to sit and watch an entire episode of something. That being said, with it being summer we aren't watching our usual favorites. Mike and Molly, How I Met Your Mother, Grey's... they're all re-runs. So I watch shows I normally don't, or can't due to our lack of cable. I LOVE Ice Road Truckers, Secret Life of an American Teenager, Special Ops Mission, and Army Wives.
2. What's the worst haircut you ever got?
The bob I had in my senior pictures. My dad was a Children's Barber. THE Children's Barber way before Kid's Hair was even a thought! People from all over the state went to him - famous people and mere mortals, like me! My dad was amazing at what he did, but at 18, I wasn't a kid anymore and I should have gone to someone else. You see, back then I didn't really care about my hair. Well, I still don't but the haircut I got would have looked awesome on a child. Not an 18 year old. Oh well, it's only hair!
3. What was something that you did as a child that you thought you were so cool for doing?
Um... everything!!
4. Do you have any GREAT frugal family fun tips?
Nope - I need them though so if YOU have any, leave a comment!!
5. Would you drive across country if you had the money to fly?
Yes. I love driving and I think it would be fun and educational. What a great vacation that would be!!

So Funny
Our little girl is the cutest thing ever! I speak the unbiased truth, of course!
The other day, I picked Adelle up and started talking with her. She leaned back, hit my chest and said, "Boobs!" I giggled, which made her giggle, and she did it again. I told her she was right and proceeded to ask why she was asking. I know, she's only 17 months (TODAY) and really couldn't tell me. She did start babbling and making hand gestures then pointed/poked me again and said, "Boobs," calmly again. Apparently the conversation was over because I put her down and she immediately grabbed a book and read it to me.
About a half hour, and a dozen books later, she started to smell. I looked at her and asked her if she was poopy and she looked at me, smiled and quietly said, "Poopy!" with a sly look on her face. She smirked and started to pull on her diaper. I put her on the changing table and asked her why she went poo-poo and she repeated, "poo-poo" to me. I smiled when she said it because it was adorable and she kept saying it the entire time she was on the changing table.
When she got down I asked her if there was any more poo-poo in her diaper and she tilted her head, smirked, leaned in a little (like it was a secret) and shook her head no. She then threw her head back and laughed!
What a cheese ball!!

Chelsea, over at Roots and Rings is the host of Ten on Tuesday. Thanks for posting the questions!!
1. From your childhood, what do you miss most about summer vacation?
Running around outside and hearing my mom or dad call me in from the back steps. You could hear everyone getting called in around the block at dinner time. That, and the square I used to bike around! :)
2. Are you going anywhere on vacation this summer?
Nope! Not that I know of! We're making our yard transition into different adventures this summer.
3. What foods do you like to barbecue?
Um... anything? I also need to clarify, I like to EAT barbecue! Shrimp, steak, ribs, chicken... yum!
4. How do you celebrate the fourth of July?
By grilling with my family and watching fireworks.
5. What’s your favorite beverage to drink in the summertime?
Sweet tea or water.
6. What movie are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
I don't even know what's out or what is going to come out!
7. In the car: windows down or AC?
Depends. If I'm on the freeway, AC. If I'm just tooling around, windows. If it's 98 degrees and high humidity, AC.
8. Have you ever had a summer fling?
Not that I remember.
9. Do you wear sunscreen?
Yes, sometimes. Not at recess, but if I am going to be out all day, yes.
10. Do you have any favorite summertime activities?
Bike riding and grilling with my family and friends. Nothing could be better!

New Tab
I've decided to make a new tab at the top.
It's going to be a tab that says, Food. Or, Deliciousness! Or, Tasty. Or, well, I haven't decided what I am going to name the new tab. It's going to feature food though. Food that I cook or bake. Don't get me wrong, I am not a cook or baker by any stretch of the imagination. I mean, I can follow a recipe and the dish usually turns out. Usually. Most of the time though, I don't use a recipe. I just throw things I like together into a pan, add some butter and mix it up! I used to cook like that a lot during college and I had some of the best meals because of it!
Well, today during Writing, I had my students cut out pictures from old magazines. Some of the magazines had amazing pictures of food on the cover and inside the actual magazine. I mean, they looked so good I wanted to eat them immediately!! However, because those pictures, and subsequent recipes, looked so good, I got inspired.
I have decided to take pictures of the things I/we cook for dinner and share them with you. Share how they tasted, how they looked and how it went cooking them!!
I am excited to start!!
