NOOKColor

I love gadgets! Love them!! We just don't have the funds to buy all the gadgets we want, so we do research. I've been looking at eReaders for a while and have talked with many friends about the pros and cons to the Kindle and the NOOK (original and color). Most people like the NOOKColor a lot more than the other options.

Well, my concern is that there are too many books I would need to purchase rather than borrow or download for free. This would defeat the purpose though because I could just go to the library! However, the only thing I don't like about the library is that I don't have many opportunities to read while Addie is around. We play too much and when she is sleeping, I am cleaning or straightening up or playing on blogger :) So I end up renewing it once or twice in order to finish it. It isn't that big of a deal, but I hate have to have something read by a certain date. That is exactly why I didn't like reading when I was in school!

What are your thoughts?

  1. I got a Kindle for my birthday last month and LOVE it. I can read at my own pace and found that the library on Amazon was a lot cheaper with a lot more books than Barnes & Noble. Also, in doing research before I decided which one I wanted I saw a lot of reviews about which was easier to read. Most people said that the Nook color was just like a computer screen, which is great but I stare at that enough through the day and at the end of the day when I read before going to bed I didn't want to feel like I was working or strain my eyes. The only positive I saw in the Nook Color was being able to read children's books on it but then the more I thought of it I want my children to read real books and not stare at a computer screen...plus this was a gift for me!

So those are my thoughts and why I went with a Kindle. Hope that helps. :)

  3. I went with the Kindle, but mostly because I buy my books on Amazon so it made sense. The Kindle books are cheaper, but that only makes sense for me because I like to buy the books I read. That being said, I'm in school full time so I don't read all that much- but when I do, I want the book now so the instant gratification part appeals to me too! lol

  4. I would give my opinion but I have none. I don't really read anymore and wish I could get one of those super cool reading gadgets, but it would be a complete waste. :) Good luck in your research !

  5. Anika - You crack me up!! I don't read a lot either. I just subscribed to three magazines because that is about all I am able to read!! That is exactly why I was thinking about an ereader though. I can't get the books back to the library in time and I don't want to buy books full price.
